Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had on Friday said that Delhi was undergoing the fourth wave of COVID-19 but a lockdown was not being considered yet.

The Delhi government has imposed a night curfew, from 10 pm to 5 am till April 30, in view of rising coronavirus cases. The Delhi government also issued an order on Monday asking all government hospitals to run one-third of the sites located in them (2 of 6 in each hospital) 24 hours for those who don’t have time to be inoculated in the day.

The order has been given to 54 large private hospitals and hospital chains, including Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Max Healthcare and Fortis Healthcare.

Delhi’s positivity rate stands at 4.11%. The number of beds in private hospitals has been escalated from 15% to 25%. 2/3 beds in Delhi hospitals are vacant,” he added. “Earlier it was found one or two people from a corona positive family but now cases are coming in bunches the whole family is getting infected from the coronavirus infection. But there is no severe form of the infection which was earlier death cases across the country. Upper class & upper middle classes are getting more affected because of the people living in conjusted area, COVID-19 cases have started earlier from the first phase,” Satyendar Jain further added. “People have to take precautions as they are following as usual like wearing masks, maintaining social distancing. For testing, Delhi Government has helpline number- 87505 and the whole family has been tested of a corona positive individual,” the minister said.

Delhi is encountering the fourth wave of COVID-19 infection but imposition of a lockdown is not being considered yet, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Friday and urged the Centre to allow states to undertake mass-level vaccination. If there is a need for a lockdown in the future, a decision will be taken after consultation, he said, adding the fourth wave is less serious than the previous ones as there are fewer number of deaths and hospitalisations this time.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday appreciated the Centre's decision to start COVID-19 vaccination on all days in April for people aged above 45 years. However, he urged the central government to remove the clause of vaccinating only those above the age of 45 and start the vaccination drive at a mass scale for all age groups.

A fire broke out in Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital early morning on Wednesday. The fire department said the fire broke out in ward number 11 in H-Block of the ICU ward on the first floor of the building.
